West Meets East
This CD was playing over the sound system of a London store in which I was shopping. For me, to hear it was to buy it. Since I am neither Russian nor Orthodox, I do not understand the words being sung. No matter. The voices project with such clarity, and the music throbs with such passion, that the spiritual significance of each selection is unmistakable. When I share this treasure with my Orthodox friends, it brings tears to their eyes. Perhaps that is the best testimony to the fact that in encountering this recording, one is encountering the sacred, the majestic, and the eternal.

Soul Soothing and Uplifting
I fell in love with this album upon the first listen. The deep rumblings of the bass voices were felt more than heard while the tenors soared gorgeously above. The complexity of the harmonies can mostly be attributed to the composers but the perfect balance of all the voices in the harmonies is what sets this album apart from others. I don't understand Russian, but I can hear the praise, the awe, the humbleness. It's beautiful and it soothes my soul...I turn to it when I'm hurting and feel the rawness subside. I even brought this with me for the births of my children. I highly recommend it.

A supurb celebration of the MALE voice and choral unity
This album is simply an incredible display of the full range of the Male voice, in singular tone and group unity. The sweetness of the tenors, blending with the deep basses in harmonic unity is a tonal experience you have to hear to fully appreciate. These choral selections will easily let you get lost in the emotional blending of the voices, stirring your emotions, or will wrap around your mood as you get lost in your own thoughts. NO matter that you don't understand the words. Like Opera, the vocal tones and blending harmonies will grab you over and over. The last 40 seconds of selection #2, or last minute 10 secs of #6 are well worth the price of this CD, but in truth every song is awesome. A must for every fan of male choral or deep voices.

Delovely
I have rarely been touched by choral music this way: such deep joy to have found this gem. It is always encouraging to still find an oasis in music where the hectic work stress peels off rapidly. Like a cleansing bath in cool water. I have played this CD often with great reverence for the joy it gives. If you are interested in something totally different to add to your favorites this can't be topped. Even after only a week it is at the top of my list. Thanks Amazon!!!
